The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is a classic American gothic horror story. It takes place in the 1790 Dutch settlement of Sleepy Hollow, New York from the perspective of the newly arrived schoolmaster Ichabod Crane. Ghost stories were abundant in the region and a particularly favorite ghostly character was the Headless Horseman, a Hessian soldier who lost his head from a cannon ball during the Revolutionary War. The apparition roams the hills at night searching for his missing head. One autumn night after leaving a party, Ichabod has an ill-fated encounter with the Headless Horseman in which he is chased, attacked, and never heard from again. The investigation into his disappearance turned up Ichabod’s saddle-less horse and near a deep brook his hat beside a shattered pumpkin. The tale has inspired countless artistic interpretations featuring the iconic Headless Horseman and pumpkin.

i couldn't love this more. unlike everyone else i guess, i am a fan of pumpkin spice (what's not to love?) but am not a fan of overly sweet or artificial fragrances or flavors. this is just perfect. it reminds me of the night before thanksgiving, when i was a little kid, and how the house smelled of my grandma's fresh baked pumpkin pies. this candle gives a cozy familiar warm baked goods scent. like being curled up in flannel jammies while it's snowing outside and grandma is in the kitchen baking pumpkin treats. :) it's homey and warm and cozy and nostalgic without being artificial. love it so much.
I love The Legend of Sleepy Hollow so I was immediately attracted to this candle, but the beautiful packaging and the title are just the beginning. The smell is absolutely amazing and smells just like autumn to me. Thank you for this amazing candle!
This is the ultimate pumpkin (and autumn!) candle. Sweet and rich, but not overbearing or excessively “pumpkin spiced”. This is smashed pumpkins and covered bridges, the scent of pie and autumn air in the Hudson Valley on a cold, dark night. There is nothing artificial or generic about this one. All the magic and spookiness of October is in this candle, it’s incredible. (It is a serious pumpkin candle, so go with Samhain if you still want the magic of autumn without the pumpkin!) I am always blown away by each candles ability to transport you to a specific moment in time so wonderfully! The packaging is also absolutely gorgeous and very old world. Highly recommend this one.
