Fragrance notes: nag champa, guava, hibiscus

Kali (pronounced “kah lee”), also called "She Who Is Black", "She Who is Death", and the "Dark Mother," is the Hindu goddess of creation and destruction. A fierce demon-slaying warrior with the power to control time. She is frequently depicted in gruesome paintings of blood and death with skin the color of coal or dark blue. This symbolic representation depicts the belief that Kali is the darkness from which everything is created and also the liberator of souls from the physical body upon death. She is energy, creation and death, the cycle of life, and mother nature.

This sophisticated fragrance is inspired by the intoxicating smells of India's herbs, flowers, and fruits. Nag Champa, a popular Indian incense created from the blend of frangipani (plumeria) flowers and sandalwood, creates the foundation for this intricate fragrance. The next layer is the soothing floral essence of hibiscus which represents the practices of Kali’s devotees who offer red hibiscus flowers to her as a sign of respect. Topping off this aromatic trip to India is the sweetness of a freshly cut juicy guava. This riveting experience of the senses is dedicated to a most complex and intriguing goddess.

My favorite candle

Kali and Pele are my two favorite candles from this company. The scents of both are just fantastic in a way that is vastly superior to what I can make myself in my little hobby candle kitchen. Kali's scent is complex, yet so clear. It's a beautiful crush of guava, filled out by nag champa. The fragrance rises off the wax and is so well-rounded. It fills a middling sized room well, and it's harder for me to become nose-blind to the scent than other scented candles I've had.

My only complaint is that most of the time when I check to see if I can get my hands on Kali, it's out of stock. I would only check every couple of months. Because of this, the candle I ordered last week is actually the first I've had of Kali in over two years. I wanted to get the 16 oz, but they were out of everything except the 4 oz candles.

Most favorite!
Best one yet!

This blend is impeccable. The Nag Champa is beautifully softened by the hibiscus & guava. This is by far my favorite scent to date.

Warmth

I love this rich warm scent! It smells delicious and exotic all at the same. A touch more nag champa would be great but this scent is one of my faves!

Good pleasant scent but it can be improved

I wanted to love this candle, I really did, but I was rooting for it to have that strong scent of nag champa with hints of the other scents (fruits and floral scents). As a candle lover for almost 20 years, I've found it was hard to successfully blend exotic scents like nag champa plus fruity AND floral scents. I've seen nag champa with fruity or floral tones before and those were good. This candle is good but something was amiss to it. That and the scent wasn't as strong and pronounced like Voodoo or understated but fragrant like Kraken. To nag champa fans like myself, this can be a hit or miss. To me, this was a bit of both.
